LiveChat vs Intercom: seat prices and the cost of AI answers
LiveChat Team is $49 per person a month billed annually. Intercom Essential is $29 per seat, plus $0.99 for each conversation its Fin AI agent resolves. What a support team pays on each, from each vendor's pricing page.
The short answer
LiveChat charges per person and shows no per-conversation fee in its plan table. Intercom charges per seat and adds $0.99 for each outcome of Fin, its AI agent.
Billed annually, LiveChat is $19 for Starter, which allows one user, then $49 per person on Team and $79 on Business. Intercom is $29 per seat on Essential, $85 on Advanced and $132 on Expert. Billed monthly, LiveChat is $25, $59 and $89, and Intercom is $39, $99 and $139.
Per seat, Intercom Essential costs less than LiveChat Team. Once Fin answers a few hundred conversations a month, the outcome fees can cost more than the seats.

How each one charges
LiveChat: a price per person per month. The plans differ by the number of website visitors tracked (100 on Starter, 400 on Team, 1,000 on Business), chat history (60 days on Starter, unlimited from Team) and features such as the work scheduler and SMS on Business. Its AI agent is sold as a separate product, Text, which LiveChat lists from $19 per user per month.
Intercom: its FAQ says pricing "has two components": seats, paid per teammate, and usage, such as Fin outcomes and messaging channels. Fin costs $0.99 per outcome, at most once per conversation, and nothing when Fin cannot answer or the customer asks for a human. Advanced includes 20 free Lite seats and Expert includes 50.

What AI answers add
Fin's fee depends on how many conversations it resolves, not on how many seats you have. Intercom offers spending limits and alerts, and a 90-day money-back guarantee to try Fin.
Intercom also sells Copilot, an assistant for your agents, at $29 per teammate per month, with 10 free Copilot conversations per agent each month.
Three agents for one year, billed annually| Workload | LiveChat Team | Intercom Essential |
|---|
| No AI answers | 3 x $49 x 12 = $1,764 | 3 x $29 x 12 = $1,044 |
|---|
| 200 AI outcomes a month | $1,764, plus Text if you add it (listed from $19 per user per month) | $1,044 + 200 x $0.99 x 12 = $3,420 |
|---|
| 500 AI outcomes a month | $1,764, plus Text if you add it | $1,044 + 500 x $0.99 x 12 = $6,984 |
